Turkmenistan develops cooperation with the OSCE in the field of transport and logistics operations

Ashgabat hosted an online seminar on the modernization of customs and transport procedures to improve the efficiency of transport management and strengthen transport security, including in emergency situations.
The event was organized by the OSCE Center in Ashgabat with the assistance of international experts from Russia and Georgia.

The seminar was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the State Customs Service, state transport agencies and a number of other ministries and state bodies of Turkmenistan.

The event participants were presented with advanced experience in the use of digital technologies and intelligent transport systems, harmonization of transport and transit procedures and ensuring the sustainable and safe functioning of supply chains during a pandemic.

Experts introduced listeners with international experience in the effective functioning of the mechanism "single window" as an instrument for increasing the efficiency of transport and logistics operations.

Single Window is a term for a technology for providing services to citizens and businesses. Its purpose is to shorten the time of forced communication between citizens and business; the provision of any services is concentrated in one place, starting from the submission of an application to the issuance of the results of the decision of the executive or other body.

An important component of the Single Window technology is to minimize the number of documents that the applicant must submit to the authority for making a decision.

A Single Window facility is required to meet all regulatory requirements for export, import and transit operations.

"Facilitating cross-border traffic is an essential condition for economic development and security. Moreover, ensuring efficient transport networks and promoting good governance at border crossings is vital for states to address issues such as lack of access to the sea and dependence on transit services from neighboring countries, ”said William Leaf, acting head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat.

Since 2008, the OSCE Center in Ashgabat has been cooperating with the government of Turkmenistan in the field of transport, trade and other sectors by organizing training events.
