Carpets from Central Asia and Middle East, dated back to the 19th and 20th centuries, have been exhibited at ancient rug exhibition in Kolkata, reports Press Trust of India.
The 10-day exhibition-fair started on 29 December at the Harrington Art Gallery, at the center of the city. The event features rugs, mats and runners from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Armenia, Georgia, Dagestan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and various Kurdish enclaves. The carpets are a testimony of the fine work and years of labour that went into its making, said Collector Danny Mehra. He represented 90 carpet at the show.
The exhibit present the carpet-making traditions of ethnic groups such as Qashqai, Luri, Bakhtiari, Khamseh, Afshar, Shahsavan, Turkic and Baluch, he said. According to Mehra, most of the valuable rugs were bought through dealers, other collectors or through auctions in Austria, Germany, USA and Great Britain.
Danny Mehra has a huge carpet collection, located in Bengaluru studio. All of them were collected all around the globe. His collection stock is enough to cover an entire football ground. The collector plans to set up a small private museum in future.

Over 200 000 carpets from the major rug producers are presented at the 23rd edition of Carpet & Art Oasis exhibition, opened recently in Dubai, UAE.

The exhibition acquaints with the best traditions of carpet weaving industry of Turkmenistan, Morocco, Uzbekistan, India Pakistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan.

The venue of the exhibition, covering the total space of 8,000 sq meters and 90 pavilions, is Dubai World Trade Centre. 80% of all exhibited carpets are hand-made.

The event, held under the motto “A Fabric of Innovation” will work until 15 January.

04.12.2017. In the conference hall of the hotel "Archabil" the Turkmen-Austrian business forum took place. For participation in the meeting in the capital the delegation as a part of heads and representatives of official bodies and companies of Austria specialising in areas of power, mechanical engineering, agriculture and food-processing industry, manufacture of building materials, road building, transport and logistics, public health services, tourism, education and software arrived.

At the opening of the forum the gathered underlined that for today in Turkmenistan all conditions for effective activity of foreign companies are created, essential privileges for foreign business that is good stimulus for interaction escalating, are provided.

From the Turkmen side representatives of several sectoral departments, ministries and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the country took part in the event.

The working agenda included issues of strengthening and expansion of trade and economic relations, acquaintance of business circles of Austria with investment possibilities of Turkmenistan, prospect of realisation of joint projects on creation of innovative manufacturing enterprises and introduction of the advanced information and marketing technologies.

The head of the Austrian delegation - director general for foreign economic relations of the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy of Austria Franz WESSIG noted great value of the forum in the context of forward development of bilateral cooperation and as more active dialogue between Turkmenistan and the European Union. The visitor especially underlined an increasing interest of the world community in Turkmenistan which consistently puts into practice peace policy, creation and social progress.

Representatives of the friendly country were acquainted with the current macroeconomic situation, investment climate, and actual directions of development of business in Turkmenistan.

02.12.2017. President of Turkmenistan addressed the participants of the International Exhibition of Production Technologies of Import-Substituting Products.
''The systematic development of the national economy, the creation of industries based on high technologies and innovations is a priority of Turkmenistan's economic policy. The exhibition is of great importance for the further intensification of work in this direction'', says the President.
''The large-scale reforms are carried out in our country to diversify the economy and establish its multi-vector nature. The programmes on increasing the volumes of production of import-substituting and export-oriented products, within the framework of which the fundamental work is carried out to expand innovative production, were adopted. The implementation of the State Programme for the Establishment of Enterprises for the Production of Various Electronic Equipment in Turkmenistan contributes to the diversification of the economy, optimization of the list of imported goods and increasing the country's export potential. As a result of the active investment policy, hundreds of industrial and socio-cultural facilities and structures are being constructed and put into operation.
''The successful implementation of the programmes of social and economic development opens up wide opportunities for Turkmenistan's continued sustainable progress, the creation of new jobs, the enhancement of the social security and the improvement of the living conditions of the population. In this regard, the partnership on the creation of high-tech enterprises and the establishment of the production of import-substituting and export-oriented products is of particular interest.
''The projects on the fundamental increase of the capacity of the chemical and petrochemical industries based on the efficient and effective use of the country's natural resources, the establishment of the developed building materials industry from domestic raw materials are implemented at present. New production facilities are being created in the textile industry. Due to the use of the advanced technologies for storing and processing agricultural products, it is planned to increase the volumes of their production and supplies to domestic and foreign markets. The implementation of the projects on the development of the spheres of transport and communications, science and education, health, sports and tourism are among the priority areas of cooperation.

22.11.2017. The 6th Turkmen-Russian Economic forum took place in the conference hall in the Archabil Hotel. The delegation of the Russian Federation, including the representatives of a number of state agencies and organisations, as well as the companies, working in the spheres of trade, food industry, construction, electronic information technology, mechanic engineering, oil and gas among others arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the forum.

The agreements achieved during the top-level talks between President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Vladimir Putin held in the framework of the official visit of the RF President to our country served as the important stimuli to organize the forum.

The Turkmen-Russian Economic forum held in Ashgabat is to specify the most promising areas for developing the efficient collaboration.

The heads and specialists of the core ministries and departments, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the representatives of enterprises and companies that produce export-oriented goods represented Turkmenistan at the business forum.

According to the forum participants, the partnership between Turkmenistan and Russia has a strategic character. That is vividly proved by the regular bilateral top-level meetings and talks, including in the framework of large international events. Moreover, the mutual understanding and trust, established between the heads of the two friendly states, their aspiration for bringing the traditional interstate dialogue up to the new level to satisfy the mutual interests and meet modern requirements stand as the important factors of the Turkmen-Russian partnership.
