17.08.2018. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is currently on the working trip to Balkan Velayat, held offsite joint session of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council. Realization of the programmes of social and economic development was the main subjects of the session.
Opening the session, the President gave floor to Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Foreign Ministers R. Meredov who reported on the preparation to the Summit of the Heads of the States – the Founder of the International Fund for Saving of Aral Sea in Avaza National tourist zone on August 24.
Our country is chairing the IFAS, therefore, relative Concept, which realization is aimed at the improvement of the activity of the Fund, establishment of firm foundation for further cooperation of the countries in the region in Aral issues on systematic basis, has been developed. Steadfast measures taken by Turkmenistan in this direction find wide response of the world community. This is visually indicated by the fact of unanimous adoption of the UN General Assembly on Cooperation between the United Nations and the International Fund for Saving of Aral Sea on April 12, 2018 initiated by Turkmen side.
Integrated work is carried out for the provision of high organizational level of the Summit. The programme of the forum has been drafted. It will be forestalled by the session of the International Commission on Sustainable Development (ICSD) of the IFAS, Interstate Coordination Water Management Commission (ICWMC) and the IFAS Board. At the same time, the preparation of the number of relevant documents is carried out.

16.08.2018. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is currently on a working trip to Balkan velayat, has received Executive Director of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council Eric Stewart and President of OSI Systems and S2 Global Jonathan Fleming.

Appreciative of the personal audience, the guests confirmed the US business community’s keen interest in gaining a stronger foothold in the prospective Turkmen market with its favorable investment climate, having highlighted Turkmenistan’s proactive role in tackling today’s global issues with its ever-increasing prestige in the global arena.

After thanking for the kind words, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that our country, which is committed to its peace-making efforts and foreign policy based on the principles of neutrality and constructive international cooperation, is always open to a fruitful and equitable dialogue with all partners, including US companies.

In the course of the meeting, an exchange of opinions was held on prospects for closer bilateral trade-economic partnership and boosted investment activities.

In the framework of the Agreement between the Hyakimlik of Dashoguz Velayat, Turkmenistan and the administration of the Khorezm region of the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation in the spheres of trade and economy, cultural and humanitarian spheres, signed in Ashgabat in March, 2017, the delegation of the Khorezm region of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by Governor of the region administration Farhod Ermanov, visited Dashoguz.

The delegation included the heads of the administration of the region and various institutions, as well as businessmen and the workers of culture and arts.

The visit programme started with a meeting of the official delegations of the Dashoguz and Khorezm regions held in the Dashoguz Velayat Hyakimlik. A business forum and an exhibition that showcased the potential of the two regions in various spheres were arranged in the business centre of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.

The specialized exposition introduced a wide spectrum of industrial and food products as well as the works of the decorative and applied arts and souvenirs.

15.08.2018. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is meeting with President of the Russian Federation in Sochi.
The meeting focuses on priority issues of Turkmen-Russian partnership in its key areas in the context of implementing bilateral agreements and plans for the future.
Turkmenistan and Russia are strongly committed to the long-term partnership. This is evidenced by the solid legal framework established for bilateral relations. Last year’s summit talks in Ashgabat during the official visit by President Vladimir Putin to our country culminated in signing an extensive package of important documents, a worthy addition to the framework, aimed to enhance mutually beneficial relations across the whole spectrum of areas.
When it comes to trade-economic partnership, there is a wide field for more diversified, closer mutually rewarding relations, higher trade turnover, a broader range of goods, and enhanced business and investment activities.
The 2017-2019 Intergovernmental Program, a unique three-year roadmap, is also aimed to fully realize the potential of Turkmen-Russian economic cooperation and focused practically on all its areas, including trade, industry, the energy sector, agriculture, transport, high technologies, services, etc.
The energy sector is seen as a high-priority area of bilateral cooperation and is strategically important to the two states, which are the world’s leading power-producing countries with enormous hydrocarbon resources.


14.08.2018. August 12, 2018 became indeed historical date. After twenty years of talks, Caspian states adopted the Convention on Legal Status of Caspian Sea this day, which has already been named as the Caspian Constitution.

The document has been signed during the V Summit of the Heads of Caspian States in Aktau by the Presidents of Turkmenistan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, the Azerbaijan Republic and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In addition of the Convention, important international Agreements on trade, economic and transport cooperation and on prevention of incidents in Caspian Sea, which have been elaborated by the initiative of Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, were adopted at the high-level meeting of the Governments of five countries.

Three Cooperation Protocols in security sphere related to the combating of organized crime, terrorism and cooperation of the Coastguards of Caspian states have also been signed.

The first meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan dedicated to solution of the Caspian issues, particularly to coordination of the approaches to the development of the Convention on international and legal status of Caspian Sea was held in 1996.
