On January 31, 2019, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with a delegation that arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit headed by the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian.
During the meeting, the sides discussed a number of issues related to the development of cooperation between the EU and Turkmenistan in 2019. In this context, in order to strengthen cooperation, the issue of opening a representation of the European Union in Turkmenistan was emphasized.
Also, there was an exchange of views on the new strategy of the Union for Central Asia, which is the European vision for the development of mutually beneficial relations between Europe and Asia. This strategy is based on three priority directions for the EU: building up transport links, creating energy and digital networks, and expanding contacts between people.
Further, the issues of strengthening regional and inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as the development of relations in the fields of logistics, transport, energy and humanitarian relations were discussed. Based on this, the sides discussed the priorities of the Turkmenistan Presidency at IFAS and the initiatives of Turkmenistan and Romania to create a Caspian Sea - Black Sea transport and transit corridor, including the route Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania.
The sides also discussed the security situation in Central Asia and Afghanistan and exchanged views on improving interaction in the region.

30.01.2019. Number of departments of Turkmenistan had meetings dedicated to important objectives set out by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the session with the members of the Cabinet of Ministers on re-organization of the state structures in January 29.

In fact, the decisions made by the President of the country and emphasized in official documents mark the beginning of new stage in transit of national economy to market relations, involvement of the mechanisms and tools in the improvement of the competiveness of national economy and reformation of management system in general.

Objective need and currency of changes initiated by the Head of the State lay in the acceleration of the modernization processes of branches, stimulation of development of entrepreneurship including by privatization of the state properties in industry, transport sector, agriculture, construction and other spheres.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov notes that it will launch the formation of full-fledged local investors, who are able to buy and manage big facilities, bring them to advanced positions both in local and foreign markets, increase the production rates, create new working places and support the growth of income of the population, attract foreign investments.

29.01.2019. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held regular video conference session with number of the members of the Cabinet of Ministers where the subjects of state economic and social policy under formation of market relations have been discussed, developments of programmes of profile development have been reviewed and important decisions on structural changes of the ministries and departments has been made.

First, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers E. Orazgeldiyev reported on the elaboration of the Programme of agricultural development of in 2019 – 2025.

The document is developed taking into account the priorities outlined by the President of Turkmenistan on social and economic development of the country in mid-term perspective. In particular, the document provides complex of measures aimed at further increment of import substitutive production made by agricultural complex, rapid development of crop cultivation, livestock and poultry farming and other branches of this section of the economy, creation of new agricultural processing facilities.

Measures for enhancement of production of agricultural crops, rational use of land and water resources, implementation of advance including digital technologies and latest scientific and research developments as well as for development of national selection and livestock breeding.

28.01.2019. President Gurbanguly berdimuhamedov held working video conference session with the participation of some Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Hyakims of the Velayats and Ashgabat. The agenda included priority objectives of social and economic development of the regions and capital city as well as number of other current issues of the state life.

Having opened the session, the head of the State called Hyakim of Ahal Velayat Sh. Amangeldiyev who reported on current agricultural works. In addition, it was reported on the implementation of the projects of construction of administration centre of the region and highway, which started last week.

Having listened to the report, the President focused on the importance of integrated preparation of the fields and agricultural equipment to spring sowing campaign.

Having expressed the interest in provision of water, fertilizers and seeds to farmers as well as in implementation of tree planting campaign, the President ordered to take proper measures for clean-up of the territories around arable fields, irrigation and drainage channels.

After, the Head of the State has listened to the report of the Hyakim of Balkan Velayat Ya.

27.01.2019. Turkmenistan widely observed the Motherland Defender Day and the 27th anniversary of the formation of National Army.

At the extended session of the State Security Council on January 25, Turkmen leader highlighted the importance of coordinated activity for development of the Armed Forces. At present time, the work for provision of National Army with latest equipment and machinery is carried out, measures for improvement of professional level of personnel are take and proper conditions for service and life of are made in the country.

Practical measures are taken in the country for systematic improvement of social and living conditions of military personnel and their families according to the time demands for efficient solution of set objectives by military and law enforcement personnel.

The sessions were held in military and law enforcement agencies on January 26. The participants of the meetings noted that integrated programme for provision of defensive capability of independent neutral state, modernization of equipment and facilities base of the Armed Forces and training of qualified military personnel is implemented in Turkmenistan.
